These Are NOT Your Friends
June 10, - An email from Friends of the Earth
We're happy to report that, just minutes ago, the Senate voted down a proposal that would kneecap the most important federal tool to reduce climate-destabilizing pollution, the Clean Air Act.
Thanks in no small part to the more than 30,000 Friends of the Earth members and supporters like you who sent messages and calls to senators opposing Sen. Lisa Murkowski's (R-Alaska) "Dirty Air Act," we can celebrate the fact that the Clean Air Act will remain intact for now.
Although Sen. Murkowski says her home state of Alaska is "ground zero" for the impacts of the climate crisis, she has constantly rejected measures that would actually seek to reduce climate-disrupting emissions. With your help, Friends of the Earth will continue to hold polluter-friendly officials in Congress like Sen. Murkowski accountable to the people they represent, not the fossil fuel lobby.
Congratulations to all of you who made this victory possible and again, thanks for all you do.
President, Friends of the Earth
These people are not your friends
The Democrats have defeated a Senate resolution that would make the EPA accountable to Congress and keep the agency from unilaterally writing its own rules to define carbon dioxide (C02) as a "pollutant" and greenhouse gas for the agency to regulate.
It is not a pollutant. It is a gas that is vital to all life on Earth, vital to all vegetation, grass, flowers, crops, forests, jungles.
In past millennia there was a lot more CO2 in the atmosphere and the dinosaurs thrived because of it. It produced massive amounts of vegetation for those huge creatures to eat and some of the other huge creatures then ate the plant-eaters!
Nor is there "climate change", the code words for "global warming" because there never was any dramatic warming and the Earth has been in a new natural cycle of cooling for a decade!
Those dreadful "fossil fuels" are what we depend upon every day for every form of energy we use.
Friends of the Earth just keeps repeating the lies of the now discredited global warming hoax and, if the EPA gets away with its agenda, it will drive up the cost of energy and harm the U.S. economy.
