Obama the Muslim meets Netanyahu the Jew

By Alan Caruba

On Tuesday, March 23rd, when Benyamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Jewish state of Israel, meets with President Barack Hussein Obama, a Muslim, he will not be able to rely on a compact of support that has existed since President Truman became the first world leader to recognize the new state of Israel in 1947.

The meeting will occur at a time when Americans of all political persuasions are calling for the impeachment of the President; when anger against Congress seethes over the passage of a widely opposed healthcare plan intended to impose socialism and debt on a nation facing a financial crisis that threatens its existence.

It will occur at a time when Israel is threatened with annihilation by Iran and attack by Hezbollah from the north and Hamas from the south, both proxies of Iran.

The previous evening, Netanyahu addressed the largest conference in the history of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). An audience of 8,000 gathered in Washington to hear him address the issues that are critical to both Israel and the United States of America.

“America has no better friend in the community of nations than Israel,” said Netanyahu. Led now by Obama, the unspoken question is whether Israel has a friend in America?

It is the President who sets foreign policy and it is this President who began his first term in office with an address on Al Jazeera, a television channel that serves the Middle East. It is this President who traveled to Cairo to assure Muslims there and around the world that America is not their enemy. It is this President who held out the olive branch to Iran only to have it slapped away.

Israel knows something about negotiating with Muslims. For more than six decades, despite continued attacks by its Arab neighbor states and terror campaigns in its streets, Israel has striven to find peace with them. The Palestinians, an invention of Yassir Arafat, have been maintained as the longest existing group of refugees anywhere in the world by the United Nations.

Imagine, then, the audacity of this administration to demand that the Israelis stop building housing developments in their own capitol city of Jerusalem, backed up by threats to withhold the military means with which Israel can defend itself against Iran and its other enemies in the region.

In his AIPAC address Netanyahu pointed out that the “fanatic hatred of Western civilization predates Israel’s establishment by over one thousand years. Militant Islam does not hate the West because of Israel. It hates Israel because of the West; because it sees Israel as an outpost of freedom that prevents them from overrunning the Middle East.”

“When Israel stands against its enemies, it stands against America’s enemies.”

The United States, through several administrations, has pressured Israel into a series of concessions to achieve peace. The latest such effort was Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza and the result was the armed conflict between Fatah and Hamas that drove the former from the area to sanctuary in the West Bank. Following that, Israel suffered thousands of rockets directed against it until it undertook a brief military campaign to suppress them.

“Nothing is rarer in the Middle East than tolerance for the beliefs of others. Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem has ensured that the religious sites of all faiths have been protected. While we cherish our homeland, we also recognize that Palestinians live there as well. We don’t want to govern them. We don’t want to rule them. We want them as neighbors, living in security, dignity and peace.”

I do not know how more clearly the Israeli Prime Minister could have expressed his nation’s policy and aspirations. Twice, however, he said, “Israel must always reserve the right to defend itself.”

When America was attacked on September 11, 2001 by Muslim terrorists, it sent its troops to Afghanistan to drive out al Qaeda and the Taliban. It sent its troops to Iraq, a nation that had previously waged war on Iran and then had invaded Kuwait to depose its dictator and provide its citizens the opportunity for democratic self-rule.

“The founding of Israel did not stop the attacks against the Jews,” said Netanyahu. “It gave the Jews the power to defend themselves against those attacks.”

The continued support of Israel now lies in the hands of President Obama, a Muslim who would have you believe he is a Christian; a man who attended a Chicago church led by an anti-American pastor; a man who Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam called “the messiah.”

Jews and Christians alike in America face a common peril, the march of Islam toward the destruction of their faiths in the West.

Netanyahu’s address to AIPAC was an affirmation of our common beliefs, our common values, and a warning about our common enemy.

America Produces Leaders!

By Alan Caruba

I keep hearing the Democrats bleating like sheep over Governor Sarah Palin’s experience and ability to be “one heartbeat away from the presidency.” What they don’t seem to understand is that America produces people like Sarah Palin all the time. They start out participating in the PTA or the Chamber of Commerce and go on to do marvelous things.

The reason is obvious. People take notice. They spot natural leadership abilities and good judgment, and the next thing you know they are telling these folks to run for mayor and then for governor.

Gov. Palin’s rise was due to the most fundamental exercise of democracy you can find anywhere in America.

That’s why Gov. Palin just knocked out the delegates to the Republican convention. They experienced the same thing that her fellow PTA members did, followed by the folks who elected her to the Wasilla town council, then as mayor, and just as rapidly as Alaska’s Governor.

That’s why America embraced her so swiftly. She is a natural born leader.

It’s the same reason folks in New York took to Teddy Roosevelt or the folks in Missouri took to Harry Truman. People can spot integrity, confidence, vision, and all those other qualities that, combined in an individual, single them out for the responsibility of office.

In the little town in which I grew up and lived most of my life, the people voted one man, Robert Grasmere, mayor year after year. He was gracious, fair, honest, informed, and ready to go to bat for his beloved community. Anyone could approach him and everyone knew he loved little Maplewood, N.J. with every fiber of his body. When he passed on, the church was filled to capacity and the Governor showed up to tell stories about Bob that amused everyone and reminded us why we loved him.

He could have gone on to higher office, served in the state legislature, perhaps been a Representative or Senator in Congress, but Bob just wanted to be Mayor and we just wanted him to be Mayor.

America produces people like him in every town. It doesn’t matter how big or small the town is. Being responsible for people is what the job is all about. Sarah Palin kept doing that as one new child after another arrived. Family, friends, neighbors; she made them her life.

It says something about Sen. Barack Obama that his stint as a state legislator is marked by the many times he voted “present” instead of taking a position and it says even more that, after arriving in the U.S. Senate, he devoted all of his time to running for President instead of serving his Illinois constituency.

If you’re wondering why Sen. Obama is losing his “mojo” and Gov. Palin has rejuvenated Sen. McCain and her party, it’s because ordinary people are taking a look at him and thinking he lacks for everything except naked personal ambition.

They’ve taken a look at Gov. Palin and seen someone who looks and sounds a lot like their mayor.

Defending America on the BBC!

By Alan Caruba

When you’re internationally famous or, in my case, just available to do an hour of radio, occasionally the BBC, Great Britain’s famed radio outlet, calls you and asks that you be interviewed or participate in an on-air discussion.

This happened today and, by 1 PM Eastern time and 6 PM London time, I found myself on the air with someone described as “an Iranian blogger”, someone with—I think—the Foreign Relations Council or some such distinguished diplomatic group, and a few others who called in from India, Somalia, and one of the Gulf oil states.

The point of discussion was whether every nation had a right to nuclear power for electricity as well as for the manufacturer of weapons capable of obliterating thousands of people in the name of Allah or Mohamed, peace be upon him.

Everyone agreed that electricity was a good thing and blowing up people with nukes was a bad thing. So far, so good, but of course the fellow defending Iran was so full of crap that it quickly became apparent to everyone that letting the ayatollahs get their hands on these weapons of mass destruction was a very bad idea.

What ensued for an hour was a discussion focused on two themes. The ayatollahs and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, should be taken at their word when they keep saying they want to blow Israel off the map and nuke anyone else they don’t like. Ignoring such threats always leads to worse things.

Dragged into the conversation was poor Syria whose secret nuclear facility was destroyed by the Israelis some seven months ago and the Syrians not only denied it was a nuclear facility, but astonishingly had nothing to say about what Israel did. They actually seemed surprised even though the Israelis had blown up a similar facility in Iraq back in the 1980s. Turns out those wonderful kids from North Korea were helping them build it.

It was left to me to remind everyone that Syria is a dictatorship and a bunch of thugs who go around assassinating Lebanese and supporting Hezbollah for the purpose of attacking Israel because they lack the guts to do so themselves.

The other main thrust of the discussion apparently was to determine how many callers and emailers could blame (1) America and (2) Israel for all the problems of the world. Apparently the mayhem that passes for intergovernmental relations in the Middle East, nor the fact that there isn’t a single functioning democracy (except Israel) to be found in the region hadn’t occurred to anyone but me.

Anyway, I pointed out that Pakistan and India had acquired nuclear weapons years ago and did so without mentioning it to the United Nations or anyone else until it came time to test them. I reminded listeners that when these two enemies reached a point in a fairly recent shouting match that threatened the use of nukes, both became so frightened they immediately started peace talks!

It turned out that I was pretty much the only participant who was both willing and happy to defend America and didn’t much care what the others thought. We’re not perfect, but we don’t go around threatening to blow up other nations…unless, of course, they are practically begging to be blown up.

This was the case of Japan in 1945. The Arab and Persian participants kept saying that the U.S. was the only nation to have used atomic weapons and I rather aggressively reminded them that it was Japan that had attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 and after getting its ass kicked from one end of the Pacific to the other, still refused to surrender. After we obliterated Hiroshima and Nagasaki they reconsidered their position. Now we are the best of pals.

I also pointed out that the U.S. having engaged in any number of wars since then, Korea, Vietnam, and now Iraq, has never used nuclear weapons, ever. And we have a lot of them.

The difference between the former Soviet Union and the lunatics running Iran these days is that the Soviets were not suicidal. When it collapsed in 1991, they were greatly relieved they didn’t have to keep pretending that communism actually works. Even the Chinese, except for their government, are fervent capitalists.

Suffice it to say, I really enjoyed kicking butt on international radio and can’t wait to do it again.

The "Barbarity" of the West

By Alan Caruba

Every so often I receive an email from the London School of Islamics penned by Iftikhar Ahmad. They are so deceitful and filled with the sense of moral superiority that is endemic to Middle Eastern, i.e. Muslim, culture that they are utterly fascinating.

For all I know Ahmad and his school operates out of a store front with a laptop, but the man is a master of the most astonishing assertions.

“Honor killing and female infanticide come from Pagan-Hindu-Judeo-Christian traditions,” says Ahmad. It should be noted that Muslims say they respect Judaism and Christianity because they are religions that have a “book” whereas Hinduism is held in utter contempt instead of mere contempt.

“Muslim migrants,” writes Ahmad, “are worried about institutional racism, binge drinking, drug addiction, incivility, gun and knife crimes, high rate of abortions, and teen age pregnancies. An average of 20 English girls under the age of 16 falls pregnant every day.” That’s a lot to worry about and how Muslim migrants can even bear to allow their daughters out on the streets of London or any other English city or town boggles the mind.

A brief note at this point: Middle Eastern Muslims are totally obsessed with sex. Who has it. Who might have it. Who is not permitted to have it. If you think that American or British society is awash in sexuality, Muslim societies are so repressed and oppressed about sex that they are driven crazy by Western openness in movies, on television, in print, on the Internet, and everywhere else.

Mohammed apparently thought about it a lot. He had several wives, the last of whom was prepubescent.

“Muslim parents do not want their children to be integrated into such barbarity.” Okay, then take your Muslim-selves back to wherever you came if the thought of living in England is so abhorrent.

“The tragedy of forced marriage and honor killing could have been avoided if the poor girls were educated in a single-sex state funded Muslim school by female Muslim teachers.” Oh? So Ahmad does want to live in London? And it’s okay for other Muslims to live there (they cannot build new mosques fast enough) so long as Muslim children are kept apart from the British school system. Said Muslim schools, however, should be funded by the secular state.

This will “protect Muslim child from the onslaught of Eurocentrism, homosexuality, racism and secular values, and traditions.” Please, explain to me again why the hell you are still living in England????

In some Middle Eastern nations such as Iran, they have found a solution to homosexuality. They kill homosexuals. That’s right. It’s a crime. In nations like Afghanistan, it’s a crime punishable by death if you convert to Christianity. In Saudi Arabia there are so many capitol crimes that getting your head lopped off for just about anything is a strong possibility.

When it comes to "barbarity", I think it’s fair to say that we Westerners have seen enough Muslim-inspired barbarity than we ever wanted to know about. Beheadings shown on Muslim Jihadist Internet sites, suicide bombers in the subways and on the buses of London, and of course 9/11 here in the U.S. In Israel, the barbarity is a daily dose of rockets out of Gaza.

However, Ahmad’s solution to the “barbarity” of living in England is as follows: “There are hundreds of state schools where Muslims are in (the) majority. Such schools may be handed over to Muslim educational Trusts or charities for their management.”

Until those of us in the West, i.e., in Europe, Great Britain, Canada and the United States begin to understand that Muslims, once they gain any majority of population anywhere, intend to completely transform their host nations into Muslim nations, the destruction of Western values and traditions will continue.

There are some things worth fighting to preserve.

From what I know of England, there are fewer in the ruling elite willing to do this. In America, political correctness does not permit us to openly address this threat.

All of which is to say that having our troops in the Middle East to protect us—and them—from their barbarity is probably a good idea.
