Crapping Out with Obamacare
By Alan Caruba
Comrade Obama will learn the truth of the warning, “Be careful what you wish for.”
The passage of Obamacare has sealed his fate with Americans of all political persuasions. When the deep blue citizens of Massachusetts put a Republican into office to fill the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, the message is that Obama will lose much of the base that elected him. Previously, the citizens of Virginia and New Jersey elected Republicans in their governors.
I hope that no one is hurt when a mob of lawyers go bounding up the steps of the Supreme Court and every other district court in the nation on Monday. State legislatures will pulsate from the initiatives being passed to nullify Obamacare in order to protect their citizens against its unfunded mandates, the threat to their senior citizens from Medicare cutbacks, the increased taxes, and measures that will drive businesses to foreign shores.
When the Gallup, Rasmussen, and every other polling company in the nation come up with the same results, that the overwhelming majority of Americans did not want Obamacare passed and despise the president, Obama and every Democrat in Congress have invited a political bloodbath in November.
Trying to rally the Democrat members of the House, President Obama called for “courage” which, to some must have sounded hollow considering that he voted “present” much of the time while serving in the Illinois legislature and the straight party line during the few months he served in the U.S. Senate before embarking on his campaign for the presidency.
The fate of demagogues and dictators is well known. In the last century, Herr Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin bunker, Italy’s Mussolini was captured by partisans, shot, and hung by his ankles in a public square. It took an American invasion to rid Iraq of Saddam Hussein who ended up on the hangman’s block.
I’m guessing the Secret Service has doubled their manpower around the White House.
Obama is going to discover that his determination to “reform” and ruin Medicare will turn out to be a curse. It will surely prove to be one for Americans, the majority of whom have health insurance and will see their premiums soar.
The Democrat Party may have to rename itself something else or just acknowledge it is now an arm of the Communist Party USA.
When Obama was elected the American people wanted the White House and Congress to do what was necessary to get the economy going again and, despite small gains, it isn’t happening. Had FDR lived in the age of the Internet, he’d have been a one-term president.
The passage of Obamacare will so discourage businesses large and small as the primary victims of its mandates the economy is likely to stagnate as they wait to see just how bad things will get.
Obamacare will get a lot more people laid off and a lot less people being hired. Why do I think the president knows this?
A friend of mine who has run a business for a quarter century in the shadow of the nation’s capitol building just laid off his entire staff except for one. A drive around my hometown is one long succession of for-sale signs on houses people used to live in for generations, not just a few years.
In eight months Americans will go to the polls and render judgment.
Obama better hope voters patiently wait out the two last years of his term. As they say in Las Vegas, he just cashed in all his popularity chips and crapped out.

Mr. Caruba, in your opinion, is there any hope that this situation can be turned this situation around, or can the damage at least be limited? Can the complete implosion of the country be delayed until November when elections take place, at which point is there the possibility that some of this disaster can be reversed and we can begin to pull out of this free fall?
While I warn of an implosion, not I nor anyone else can tell when it will occur. Only the infusion of taxpayer's money saved the financial community from a complete meltown at the end of the Bush administration. Now it is the public that's on the hook to pay back what was borrowed.
The US will remain intact for some time to come and most certainly up to and past November. IF we clean all the Democrats out of Congress (at least those up for reelection) some steps can be taken to reverse the damage, but it will not be easy.
I have incurred some wrathful responses from a couple of "friends" that I have on facebook who are diehard Obama supporters & Obamacare fans...in expressing my dismay over this bill passage (I said, "When a bill is shoved through that 75% of the people are against, how are those 75% supposed to feel?" This is response to a Democrat saying that "People are bitter & hateful. If you don't like what's happening in this country, then get the hell out.") I've since received this reply:
"Where is the proof of 75% opposing it??? Show me the actual proof of that, not just a Fox "News" commentator telling you that. Show me. PS - Barack Obama ran his campaign on HC Reform and won in a landslide. His supporters who are unhappy with the bill feel that it doesn't do ENOUGH but you can believe that they aren't going to turn towards the GOP any more than Hillary supporters turned towards McCain for picking that joke Palin. WE are the "silent majority", not Fox "News" viewers. One more thing, how many people identify themselves as Republicans now? Like 20%? Just because you yell louder doesn't make you the majority."
How would you reply to this? Would you reply at all? It is worth wasting the time to reply to people like this? I'm not politically savvy enough to effectively reply here (though I'd like to be). I'd love to hear your thoughts and those of your readers.
First of all, Obama did not win in a landslide. It was a fairly thin margin as I recall. And consider the dud he was up against!
As for responding to people who are idiots, the old adage is to never argue with an idiot because they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!
Very true. It's hard to argue with delusionals. However, I would find it gratifying to present some "proof", as she calls it, regarding the overwhelming disapproval of this bill. Maybe even something on her own Communist News Network?? I don't know what kind of bubble she lives in, where the "majority" love Obama & his freakish ideas, and there are only "20% that call themselves Republican", but I have not seen that represented anywhere that I've been looking. Maybe I'm looking in only the places I want to look too, but how do you explain his approval rating then?
Rachel: There was a poll on MSNBC (probably the closest thing to an Obama-haven as you can get) about the healthcare bill passage. More than 66% were "Angry" at the passage of the bill. I would say there is your proof...

IT BEGINS

Well, I seriously doubt that Obama is going to fall on his sword anytime soon -he's too jacked-up over his victory.
So just who, what country, is going to come to our rescue and hang him by his ankles?
I don't think the American people, however angry they are, are sharpening their pitchforks. yet. This lot we have here is very far removed from the colonials who took up arms against the British. Unless they can text a revolution...
HokieFan: a HUGE thank you for posting that. Very helpful, indeed.
>"Well, I seriously doubt that Obama is going to fall on his sword anytime soon -he's too jacked-up over his victory."
If you continue with that line of thought you have:
"Good morning, President Biden."
How scary is that!!
And continuing yet another step?
"Good morning, Pr#%&....
I can't even write the words. It's too horrible to contemplate
